Dr Russel Perry – Chairman
Dr Perry is currently the Chief Executive Officer of a property development company that owns the Capricorn Project at Yanchep. He is a former Station Manager of Channel Seven (Perth) and one-time senior executive with Bond Media. Russel was also a Member of the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal.  He is a Life Member of RugbyWA, the University of WA Rugby Club and the WA Rugby Referees Association. His rugby career included representing the State as a player at junior and senior level; being selected on the Australian Referees Test Panel; being a member of the National Referees Coaching panel and chairing the RugbyWA Judiciary Board.  In addition he is Chair of the Governing Council of West Coast Institute of Training.
 
 
 
David Redpath - President
Mr Redpath was elected to the Board in of RugbyWA in 1990.  Professionally David was with the Federal Attorney-General’s Department for more than 30 years in various senior management positions including time as Business Manager for the Australian Government Solicitor in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney, a short time as Chief Financial Officer of AGS and Administrative Officer with the Perth office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. He is presently assisting a small construction company with expansion plans.  David has a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of New South Wales and a Masters degree in Accounting from Curtin University.
 
 
 
Ian Cochrane
Mr Cochrane is one of Australia’s most highly regarded legal experts in Mergers & Acquisitions as well as Corporate Governance.  Born in South Africa, Mr Cochrane has a long association with rugby and played locally in Perth after immigrating in 1986.  He was a partner in the Perth offices of national law firms for 18 years before founding the boutique M&A firm Cochrane Lishman.  He is currently a Partner at Clifford Chance after Cochrane Lishman merged with the British legal giants in May 2011.  He is Chairman of the listed entity Little World Beverages Limited which produces Little Creatures beers.
 
 
 
Leon Davies
Mr Davies established one of the UK’s premier specialised recruitment agencies after graduating as a mechanical engineer from Derby University in England.  He sold the business after a decade of significant growth and emigrating to WA where he has continued to forge new business opportunities.  Since arriving in 1996 he has established two successful property development companies, and the national support service agency ATS Workforce.  Leon has played rugby since a teenager and in more recent times held administrative positions including five years as President of Wanneroo Districts RUFC.
 
 
 
Charles Fear
Mr Fear is Executive Chairman and Head of Corporate of Perth based investment bank Argonaut.  He has had extensive experience in advising on Mergers and Acquisitions and Equity Capital Market transactions.  Charles is a former President of the Western Australian Referees Association, he has also served as Chairman, Vice President and Treasurer of the Western Australian Cricket Association.
 
 
 
Steve Fink
During a 42 year career in the IT industry Mr Fink served in a variety of technical, marketing and management roles. He has lived and worked in Europe, Asia and North America and played club rugby in many countries. He has had an active involvement in rugby administration for over 25 years serving as President of the WA Junior Rugby Union and as a director of the Australian Junior Rugby Union. He has also been a club President and served on a wide variety of RugbyWA committees.
 
 
 
Tony Howarth AO CitWA – Vice Chairman
Mr Howarth has spent over 35 years in the banking and finance industry. He is currently Chairman of Mermaid Marine Australia Limited and a non- executive director of Wesfarmers Limited. He is also a director of Alinta Energy. He is involved with a number of business and community organisations as Chairman of St John of God Health Care Inc, Immediate Past President of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia and Chairman of the Committee for Perth. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University Of WA’s Business School and sits on the University Senate.
 
 
 
Vern Reid – Chief Executive Officer
Mr Reid has spent most of his working life in professional sport, serving as Marketing Manager of the America's Cup Defence in 1987, Director of Special Events at EventsCorp, General Manager of the Perth Wildcats and Marketing Manager of the Fremantle Football Club.  Most recently he was the Chief Executive of The Princess Margaret Hospital for Children Foundation, an independent body which raises funds for the hospital, before being appointed as RugbyWA CEO.  He is Chairman of Trustees of the Warren Jones Foundation and a member of the Board of the St. Hilda's Anglican School for Girls Foundation.  He has also sat on the Boards of the Yachting Foundation of WA, Basketball WA, the Board of Rugby WA and he has been a Councillor of St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls.
 
 
 
Nathan Sharpe – Player Representative
Mr Sharpe is the inaugural Captain of the Emirates Western Force and is firmly entrenched in the top echelon of second rowers in world rugby.  He completed a remarkable individual achievement in 2011 by becoming the most capped player in Super Rugby history, surpassing George Gregan’s previous mark of 136 matches, and recorded his 100th Test appearance with the Wallabies. He has been a mainstay of the tight five in Perth since the club’s inception having joined the Emirates Western Force from the Reds in 2006.  Mr Sharpe played 53 consecutive caps, the most of any player in club history, and has signed on to play again in 2012, his 15th Super Rugby campaign.
 
 
 
Scott Staniforth – Player Representative
Mr Staniforth joined the Emirates Western Force franchise for its inaugural season in 2006 from UK side London Irish, having started his career with the NSW Waratahs. He holds the record for the most number of tries in a season (nine in 2006) and was awarded Player of the Year in 2006. He played 12 Tests for the Wallabies and was a member of the 1999 Rugby World Cup winning side. He retired at the end of 2010 due to a neck injury after a successful career of 104 Super games, 47 of which were in Western Australia with the Emirates Western Force.  Scott holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Property Economics and is now working for Otan Property Funds Management. Scott also coaches down at his local Rugby Club, Associates.
 
 
 
Brent Stewart
Mr Stewart is the Executive Chairman of Waveride Capital Ltd, a boutique corporate advisory founded earlier this year to provide financial and strategic advice to growth oriented companies. Until February of this year, Mr Stewart was a Global CEO and Director of Synovate Ltd, the market research business of Aegis PLC, one of the world’s largest marketing services companies. Prior to Synovate, Mr Stewart was the Chairman and Chief Executive of Market Equity Pty Ltd, a company he founded in 1992 and went on to become one of Australia's largest privately owned market research and consulting businesses. Market Equity was acquired in 2005 by Aegis PLC. Mr Stewart is also a Non Executive Chairman Surgical Specialties Pty Ltd and Etheringtons and a Non-Executive Director of Argonaut Ltd and WorkFocus Australia Ltd.
 
 
 
David Vaux
Mr Vaux is the first Sydney based director appointed by RugbyWA’s Board.  Raised in Western Australia, Mr Vaux provides a valuable voice within the corridors of power at the Australian Rugby Union which is based in New South Wales.  An accomplished businessman, he oversaw remarkable growth at DCA Group Limited which flourished from a market capitalisation of $50 million in 1998 into a business that sold nine years later to private equity fund CVC for approximately $2.7 billion.  Mr Vaux holds a number of current directorships while he has also established an Education and Learning Foundation with wife Sarah Jane that supports aspirational children and social entrepreneurs focused on youth issues.
