Australian Rugby Union today announced tickets for the Wallabies’ third match of this year’s inaugural Rugby Championship, on Saturday 8 September in Perth, are on sale now.
The Test between the Wallabies and Springboks at Patersons Stadium will be the first time the two sides have met since the Australians beat the Springboks in an epic Rugby World Cup quarter final last year.
For the Wallabies the match comes straight after the first two Bledisloe Cup Tests for 2012 against reigning Rugby World Cup Champions, the All Blacks, as part of the inaugural Rugby Championship.
The Springboks will head to Australia to play the Wallabies following their first two matches of the Championship against newcomers, Argentina, in South Africa and Argentina respectively.
Tickets to the highly anticipated clash are expected to be in high demand and ARU Managing Director and CEO, John O’Neill AO, encouraged fans to secure their tickets now.
“The Wallabies and the Springboks have enjoyed some great battles in recent years and their first encounter in The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship will be no different,” Mr O’Neill said.
“I encourage Western Australian fans to secure their tickets now and get behind the Wallabies as they take on South Africa for the first time since the Rugby World Cup quarter final.
“The Springboks will be out for revenge so I encourage fans to pack out Patersons Stadium and to be bold, wear Gold and get behind the Wallabies.”
Executive Director of Eventscorp, the Western Australian Government's events agency, Gwyn Dolphin, said the Springboks and Wallabies were the first teams to play an international match in Perth in 1998.
"These two teams have played regularly in Western Australia since that first international Test and they continue to pull great crowds as well as attract interstate and international visitors,” Mr Dolphin said.
“Eventscorp is proud to support the Wallabies and Springboks Test as part of our three year deal with Australian Rugby Union.
“The deal also delivers Perth the start of the British & Irish Lions tour in 2013, a Test against Argentina also in 2013 and another Wallabies match against the Springboks in 2014.”
Tickets to Saturday 8 September clash can purchased through Ticketmaster, with tickets starting from just $49 for adults and $25 for children.
All four of the Qantas Wallabies remaining 2012 domestic Tests are now on sale.
