Wests Subiaco v Associates
Rosalie Park, Subiaco
Saturday, 1 September 2012 – Kick-off: 3:30pm
Last time they met – Associates 44 def Wests Subiaco 10
Associates will be gunning for the minor premiership when they travel to Rosalie Park to face Wests Subiaco in the Pindan Premier Grade match of the round on Saturday.
Soaks (67 points) are just one point shy of top-placed Nedlands (68), who stumbled against Cottesloe last weekend.
The Swanbourne side has won 10 from their past 11 matches, dropping their match to Palmyra (20-15) three weeks ago.
However, the Paly loss appears to have been nothing more than a blip on the radar, with Associates responding in resounding fashion with a 30-9 win over Kalamunda and defeating Perth Bayswater 44-0 in the past fortnight.
Soaks have shown they know how to pile on points averaging more than 30 points per match, while boasting the best defensive record, conceding 15 points per game.
Wests Subiaco will be keen to finish the season on a high and continue on from their convincing 52-31 win over Rockingham last week.
It has been an unfortunate fall from grace for Wests after they held second place at the midway point of the competition before injuries took their toll.
Wests Subiaco led their last encounter with Soaks 10-0 before being swamped 44-10.
Cottesloe v Rockingham
Harvey Field, Cottesloe
Saturday, 1 September 2012 – Kick-off: 3:30pm
Last time they met – Cottesloe 35 def Rockingham 25
After running the Pindan Premier Grade gauntlet last weekend, Cottesloe will look to consolidate their place in the top four against Rockingham.
The Gulls overcame league leaders Nedlands, in a match that could have seen them fall out of the top four and potentially out of the finals race.
However, with a one-point lead over UWA (54 points) and a four-point buffer over Palmyra (51), a solitary bonus point should be enough to secure them a place in next weekend’s finals.
Meanwhile, Rockingham has one final chance to pull themselves off the bottom of the competition ladder. They showed some form against Wests Subiaco registering 31 points in a losing side, after sharing the points with Perth Bayswater the week before.
Wanneroo v Nedlands
Kingsway Reserve, Landsdale
Saturday, 25 August 2012 – Kick-off: 3:30pm
Last time they met – Nedlands 29 def Wanneroo 22
Nedlands will be chasing a win leading into next weekend’s finals after dropping their third match of the season to Cottesloe last weekend.
Neddies have already booked their place in their 30th consecutive finals series but will be looking for a win over Wanneroo to claim the minor premiership.
After falling out of finals contention in their loss to Cottesloe a fortnight ago, Wanneroo then fell victim to UWA, 35-13, last weekend.
With just a try separating the two sides in their last encounter, the Roo Dogs will be looking to spoil Nedlands’ finals party by relegating them to second place on the competition table.
Perth Bayswater v Palmyra
Pat O’Hara Reserve, Morley
Saturday, 1 September 2012 – Kick-off: 3:30pm
Last time they met – Palmyra 28 def Perth Bayswater 13
Palmyra will have it all to play for when they head to Pat O’Hara Reserve to take on Perth Bayswater.
Paly sit three points outside the top four and must take a win – preferably with a bonus point – to give themselves a chance to contesting the finals.
However, tomorrow’s visitors were anything but impressive last weekend under lights against Kalamunda, playing out a 13-all draw at Tompkins Park.
Tomorrow’s match will signal the end of 2012 for Perth Bayswater, who will be keen for a final hurrah in spoiling Nedlands’ run into the finals.
Kalamunda v UWA
Hartfield Park, Forrestfield
Saturday, 1 September 2012 – Kick-off: 3:30pm
Last time they met – UWA 33 def Kalamunda 10
UWA travel Forrestfield knowing that a win against Kalamunda will be enough to secure them a top four place.
The 2011 premiers were ruthless overcoming Wanneroo last week in winning 35-13 – against a side who held finals aspirations until the week prior.
The students will be chasing their fourth successive victory this week to provide them with significant momentum leading into the finals.
In an otherwise disappointing season, Kalamunda has found some late season form claiming a win over Rockingham and a draw with Palmyra in their last three matches.
