The Bankwest Junior Rugby grand finals were contested at Kingsway Reserve on Saturday (15 September) with 11 clubs represented across the seven matches.
Matches were contested across four age groups with Kalamunda the best represented club in three matches, Wanneroo contested the Under 13 Gold and Under 16 deciders, while nine clubs were represented by one team.
Bankwest Junior Competition Coordinator Richard Thelan said it was pleasing to see so many clubs involved in grand finals.
“It was fantastic to see such an even spread throughout the clubs,” he said.
“What was also noticeable was the high quality of the matches throughout the day, which is a tribute to the teams and coaches involved. There were some fantastic performances and to see so many minor premiers upset in the finals, demonstrates the competition that exists throughout so many of the age groups and divisions.
“Congratulations must go to the WAJRU executive for bringing the day together, and to all the players, coaches and parents, who ensured that the grand finals were contested in the right spirit.”
