Western Australia has completed their National Under 16 Championships campaign with a spirited 29-20 win over Victoria in Sydney.
In an error riddled first-half performance, the Western Australians trailed 20-5 at the break, before scoring four unanswered tries to finish seventh in the tournament.
However, some carefully selected words from coach Mark Calverley seemingly did the trick with Western Australians running over the top of their Victorian counterparts in the second term, with Josh Billington finishing the match with a brace of tries.
The win is marks the first for the Western Australians in this year’s tournament after narrow losses to Queensland White (13-11) and NSW Country (12-8), and a 48-8 loss to tournament finalists, NSW Schools.
