Profile
Winston Stanley is a tough centre, who returns for his second season with the Emirates Western Force. The former IRB Junior Player of the Year nominee linked with the West Australian side last season after two years of Super Rugby for the Auckland-based Blues. Stanley, who played 11 matches for his new province in 2012, had his season ended when he broke his collarbone in his first match against his former province in Auckland. Strong in contact and light on his feet, the aggressive-tackling, ball-distributing midfielder is Australian eligible after spending his first 11 years in Brisbane before moving to Auckland with his family. The 23-year-old, brother to former Blues and All Black centre Benson, graduated through the New Zealand representative ranks featuring for the New Zealand Under 19’s (2007) and Under 20’s (2009) in their respective IRB junior world championship titles.

Member of the New Zealand’s IRB Under 19 World Championship-winning squad that defeats South Africa, 31-7, in the final; captains New Zealand in their 107-6 IRB World Championship win over Japan; makes his National Provincial Championship debut at 18 years of age for Auckland in their 49-7 win over Tasman.

Plays four games for Auckland in the National Provincial Championship, including one start.
2009
Member of the Blues’ Wider Training Group; scores a try on his Super Rugby debut for the Blues against the Bulls in Week Two; makes his starting debut against the Sharks in Week 4; plays three matches in his debut Super Rugby season; starts in six matches for Auckland, who narrowly miss out on the NPC finals; member of New Zealand’s IRB Junior World Championship-winning side, starting at outside centre in the 44-28 win over England in the final; nominated as one of four players for IRB Junior Player of the Year; forced to undergo a double shoulder reconstruction that rules him out of the 2010 Super Rugby competition.
