Schools Programs

The Smarter Than Smoking Development Officers provide programs in schools to introduce the game of rugby to students and teachers. Formal programs such as the Primary Rugby Program, EdRugby and Walla Challenge, and Secondary Rugby Program provide practical education and experience with rugby enabling students to have a positive rugby experience.

Primary Rugby Program

The Primary Rugby Program (PRP) aims to introduce the game of rugby to students at Primary School level to the point where they are then able to participate in a series of rugby matches. It allows them to experience the game of rugby in a suitably facilitated format.

The initial contact with the game is through specific sampling sessions instructing them through all the elements of the game of rugby and then allowing them to put these elements into play during a gala day.

The Program is targeted at two groups - Year 4 and 5 students and Year 6 and 7 students in Primary Schools in your various regions throughout Perth.

EdRugby and Walla Challenge

The EdRugby program brings the sport of Rugby Union to all Western Australian schools by inviting them to engage in a series of fun and educational learning activities on and off the field based on the Rugby values of pride, teamwork and tradition.

The EdRugby Walla Challenge is an opportunity to give all students a positive sporting experience by involving them in organizing and staging their own Walla tournament.
