Primary Rugby Program
Primary Rugby Program 2008
In 2008, the Primary Rugby Program (PRP) will offer primary schools a number of rugby experiences, ranging from the classroom to the field and beyond. Whether it is a once off rugby experience you are after, a five week Regular Rugby Program, or our Force Friendly School Program, RugbyWA offers a variety of program designed to fit in with your schools schedule and time table.
All of our programs are based around the non-tackle version of the game (Walla Rugby) to encourage the development of passing and catching, evasion and pursuit, and non-contested scrum and lineout.
The programs are aimed at two groups: Years 4/5 and Years 6/7. It is free of charge, with support from RugbyWA Smarter Than Smoking Development Officers.
A summary of all of the programs can be found below however if you would like any more information, contact RugbyWA Development via email at development@rugbywa.com.au or on phone at 9387 0716.

Three Week Regular Rugby Competition
It is a priority of RugbyWA to facilitate regular rugby and maximise the rugby experience for primary schools. If your school had a positive experience of rugby last year, RugbyWA would like to offer you the opportunity to play a three week tournament either interschool or within your school. With an emphasis on game play this also provides a great opportunity for new schools to experience rugby.
The aim of this three week program is to maximise Walla rugby game time. Students that have had a previous experience will be given a chance over two weeks to recap the basic skills and principles of Walla rugby and then get straight into Walla games.
An interschool format would see a cluster of two to four schools each host a week of Walla games for a two hour weekly time slot dependant on numbers. This format will allow interaction with students from other schools and promote values of team spirit, sportsmanship and pride in your school. Rugby has a long tradition of upholding these values and provides an avenue to bring these themes into the classroom through the EdRugby Program. http://www.rugby.com.au/edrugby
If cost or travel is an issue for your school, this same format of program will also be available to run within one school. The games would be played more regularly than experienced this year with an emphasis on the values of the game and maximising Walla playing opportunities.
How do I get my school involved in 2008?

Preference for all programs will be given to the first received applications for each category of experience whether it be a three week competition or an Emirates Western Force Walla Challenge. So avoid disappointment by registering today!
