Emirates Western Force player Richard Brown was at Al-Hidayah Islamic School in Bentley recently to assist Smarter Than Smoking Development Officer Ross James coach Walla Rugby.
Richard was asked many questions by the enthusiastic students about his rugby career and playing experiences. The energetic year four to seven students were very keen to show him all the rugby skills they had learnt during the five week Regular Rugby Program.
He signed posters, hats and rugby balls, as well as awarding two best player awards to students who showed skill, enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Many students showed outstanding talent and were able to play some free flowing rugby. Richard demonstrated to the students his remarkable rugby skills by scoring five tries of his own.
RugbyWA offers many primary rugby program which are based around the non-tackle version of the game (Walla Rugby) to encourage the development of passing, catching, evasion and pursuit, as well as non-contested scrum and lineout.
