On Saturday, 15 November, Haig Sare and I hopped on our scooters and headed down to McDonald’s in Innaloo to help out with McHappy Day.
After meeting the managers and the lovely girls from Ronald McDonald House, we started by meeting some kids in the face painting area and handing out a few Emirates Western Force caps and Ronald McDonald House stickers.
We then ventured behind the counter for a few photos, but we got some dirty looks from the customers because the restaurant was jam-packed (we were taking up a great deal of space) and food orders were suffering due to our incompetence.
On completion of the introductions, Haig then moved to the drive through window where he handed out orders. I placed myself in the middle oif the driveway hitting up customers for spare change and handing out more caps and stickers.
Our roles were reversed when Haig stuffed up one too many orders, so I lead the charge at the drive through window. At one point in the afternoon Haig was put in charge of cooking the chips but I was unaware of this at the time as I was too busy keeping up with the demand of working the drive thru window.
The staff at McDonalds Innaloo were terrific and very supportive of us and the charity on the day. Ronald McDonald House is an excellent charity that as a player I'm very proud to be involved with them. I am really looking forward to doing it again next year.
