James came to Perth in February 2006 from the Souths club in Brisbane and joined local club, Palmyra. He had an immediate impact on the competition, winning the PG Hampshire award for best and fairest, and was invited to join the Firepower RugbyWA Academy shortly afterwards. Born in Brisbane, James attended the St Edmunds College in Ipswich and later qualified as a boiler-maker. The man they call “Chucky” plays golf in his spare time and likes to hang out at the beach. A big follower of the St George rugby league team, James was a big contributor for the ET Perth Spirit during the Mazda Australian Rugby Championship.
