RICHARD Brown’s coming of age is set to continue after his watershed 2008 campaign culminated in his Test debut and maiden tour for the Wallabies.
A high work rate back rower and natural athlete, the converted Number 8 earned the admiration of national selectors with his confrontational style. After winning selection in the first Wallabies squad of the season, Brown was eventually awarded his first Test cap in the Tri Nations decider against the All Blacks in Brisbane before ending the year with five appearances in the gold jersey.
Establishing himself as first choice at the back of the scrum for the Emirates Western Force, ‘Brown dog’ remarkably registered his name on the scorer’s sheet in three consecutive matches after crossing for his first career five-pointer against the Crusaders at Subiaco Oval in April.
