TOM Hockings was one of the finds of the season for the Emirates Western Force in 2008, securing a permanent place in the starting XV and establishing himself as a representative player of the future.
In fact, had it not been for an unfortunate bout of food poisoning to skipper Nathan Sharpe prior to the WA side’s 2008 Super 14 opener against the Sharks, it may have taken a lot longer to realise the full potential of this gifted second rower.
A brilliant athlete and keen student of the lineout, ‘Hocko’ is a star in the making under the guidance of Wallabies veteran Sharpe and might well have ended up in a Wallabies jersey himself this year had it not been for a serious shoulder injury he sustained late in the season.
